BOBBY HOLMES AWAITS THE 2008 RACING SEASON TO START
Lockport, NY native Bobby Holmes and his Holmes Family Racing Team have announced their tentative schedule which includes appearances in a number of different rides during the 2008 season. One of the cars will be a new adventure as he has never driven one in racing conditions.
His focus for this season will be aimed at his new ride in the Cup Lites Racing Series. Cup Lites Racing Series owner Paul Graff has brought Bobby to the class where he will chase Rookie of the Year honors. While carrying the #22 on his new ride with the NASCAR Sprint Cup paint scheme of Dave Blaney, his first foray in the division is scheduled to come in the May opener at Canada's Mosport International Raceway 2.459 mile road course located in Bowmanville, Ontario. Bobby is running the entire Cup Lites schedule, and it encompasses traveling to tracks from Canada to Alabama.
Bobby is also making appearances in his family-owned yellow #8 which carried him to the 2004 and 2005 SST Sportsman titles at the Dunn Tire Raceway Park in Lancaster, NY. He'll drive that car when it doesn't conflict with the Cup Lites Racing Series schedule. Appearances at the Lancaster facility along with the bigger SST Modified Series events including September's 58th Annual Oswego Race of Champions are on the list. Also added to his time behind the wheel are possible appearances with a T.Q. Midget at the local tracks.
Bobby stated, "I'm happy to be driving for my dad and family again. Dave and Laura DeLange gave me a great opportunity, and it was a lot of fun." DeLange Racing fielded a Modified for Bobby from 2005 through last season along with sponsoring his SST championship rides at Lancaster.
Original Pizza Logs and Bob Cordova along with Dean McArthur of Tile & Stone Restoration in Lockport are the sponsors backing Bobby's efforts this season. Associate sponsors are Halfway Auto Parts, D&T Graphics, Performance Video and Jody's Sit & Sew. Sponsorship opportunities are available for all of his rides as well.
The racing season is just around the corner and Bobby is eager to get behind the wheel. Bobby's goals for the season are attainable. "I hope to run in the top three with the Cup Lites, win a couple of SST races and race as much as possible in as many types of cars as possible," Bobby related. Bobby's entire schedule should be finished within the coming weeks.
